We are the ISP TECH SQUAD. It's a non-profit organization that is design to teach senior citizens about technology and how to use them. Teachers, and students at Kimberly High School teach at retirement communities about once a week, around 8-10:30 am.

We decided to do this because both the student and senior citizens would benefit from this experience.  For the students this gives them the opportunity to switch roles. This time they will be in authority. It will allow them the chance to be the leader and the ability to share their knowledge with those who need it. The experience will boost their self-esteem and help strengthen their employ-ability skills. With the senior citizens this will benefit their day to day lives. In most cases they had never had the chance to learn. They will be updated on how society is today and how technology has become such a major part of our lives. This will also allow them to build up their communication skills and help them connect with other generations.

We are not the only ones getting involved in trying to teach senior citizens about technology. Everyone is getting involved; a group effort. They have programs such as "The Teen Teaching Internet Skills", which is a group that tries to engage youth to teach senior citizens computer/internet based skills. Also to navigate and obtain needed information. They are also making websites that offer tutorials and provides tips to give senior citizens more information.
